Helping couples heal old wounds & connect deeply in a short period of time.
Become closer, faster.
Are weekly sessions not giving you the support you need?
Between both of your busy schedules, it’s hard to even make time for couples therapy. Sessions feel abrupt and disjointed, like something you’re trying to squeeze in between 100 other things.
60-minute sessions don’t feel like enough time. By the time you’re getting close to a breakthrough, the hour is nearly over… and you have to wait until next week to start the whole process over again.
Maybe you’re new to couples therapy, and you like the idea of doing a lot of work at once, instead of scheduling sessions for months or years to come.
A Couples Intensive can help.
Intensives condense weeks/months of therapy into a few days.
The result?
Your relationship changes for the better, sooner.
Unlike traditional therapy with its weekly 1-hour sessions, intensives offer a short-term, accelerated approach to healing.
Longer, focused sessions (4+ hours) bring you closer together, faster— without the hassle of weekly scheduling.
Through brain-body therapies like EMDR, IFS, and Brainspotting, you can transform your relationship in the span of a weekend.
Couples Therapy Intensives are for you if…
you’ve gone through a traumatic experience together (car accident, miscarriage, medical crisis, natural disaster, death in the family) and need a space to process, heal, and figure out next steps
you’re both too busy for weekly therapy, but want to move past old hurts & feel closer to each other ASAP
you keep triggering each other without meaning to, and you both know it’s about something way deeper than towels on the bathroom floor (and probably something rooted in past experiences) — and you’re ready to work through this together
How can a Couples Intensive support your relationship?
-
Intensives provide focused attention & targeted processing of specific themes/challenges in your relationship.
You can experience weeks/months of progress in a span of hours/days.
-
Treat the days surrounding your Intensive like a couples retreat. This is a time to focus on your healing & enjoy each other's company.
Schedule your favorite activities together — such as massages, eating out, hiking, yoga, cooking, dancing, watching comedy, going to a concert, or simply enjoying cozy time at home.
Also allow yourself time for solo rest & recharge time, as needed.
-
By experiencing significant progress in a shorter timeframe, you save time & money on continuous weekly therapy.
-
Intensives can be scheduled on weekends, so you don’t have to miss work, coordinate opposite schedules, or transition abruptly between appointments.
What can a Couples Therapy Intensive help with?
-

Get to the root of the issues that keep your relationship stuck — because you both know it’s not actually about the dishes.

How is Intensive Therapy more cost-effective and time-efficient than weekly therapy?
WEEKLY THERAPY (60 MIN)
progress can feel slow & steady across several weeks, months, or years
10-15 min spent at the beginning & end of each session checking in and transitioning out (leaving 30-40 min for processing)
With weekly therapy, the focus shifts significantly from one session to the next — because life happens!
You might spend multiple weeks/months working on one specific issue before it’s fully resolved, spending $1k+ on therapy per month or $12k+ per year.
INTENSIVE THERAPY (4 HRS)
accelerated & concentrated work — without having to stop & wrap up every hour
highly intentional & focused space, allowing you to do more work, in less time, needing less therapy overall
With intensive therapy, you might heal the root of the issue in 2-3 days, spending $1.8k-3.2k.
Your relationship improves faster.
You both don’t have to keep taking time off of work or paying for childcare to attend your sessions.
1 intensive session is equivalent to multiple weeks of therapy.
Due to the increased value of intensive therapy, you may end up spending less time & money on continuous weekly therapy.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Intensives condense weeks/months of therapy into 2+ days. They're a short-term, accelerated therapy.
Couples Trauma Therapy Intensives allow couples to:
address the root issues that trigger each other in relationship
process traumas that they experienced together (such as a car accident, miscarriage, medical crisis, grief & loss, near-death encounter, natural disaster, and more)
process traumas that they experienced individually, but which continue to impact their relationship today (childhood & family of origin experiences)
Through trauma-focused modalities such as EMDR & IFS, Couples Intensives allow partners to witness, support, and hold space for each other in their individual & shared healing experiences — ultimately creating a more secure, safe, and connected relationship.
-
Intensives are a good fit for couples who:
want to do significant therapy work, but don’t have time to commit to weekly sessions
have a break coming up in your usually packed schedule — leave from work, holiday break — and want to complete as much therapy work as possible in that window
feel the impacts of past traumas leaking into your relationship, and want to address the root issue ASAP
-
After an Intensive, you may notice:
a level of connection with each other that you haven’t felt before
a sense of having worked through something that’s been keeping your relationship stuck for a while
feeling less weighed down by the past & more present with each other
a significant increase in understanding & intimacy within your relationship
Intensive experiences vary, depending on your specific situation. It’s important to note that Intensives do not guarantee full resolution of issues, but rather the opportunity to experience significant progress that would typically take longer to achieve in weekly therapy.

partners do not have the same goal for therapy
there is active intimate partner violence
-
2-day Couples Intensive programs begin at $1,850.
Intensive hours are billed at a higher rate than weekly therapy, due to the increased value, short-term nature, & scheduling flexibility of intensives. Weekend, in-person intensive hours are billed at a higher rate than weekday, online intensive hours.
In accordance with the No Surprises Act, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) as part of your intake paperwork. This document will outline the costs of your intensive therapy program.
Once you have confirmed your intensive dates, a non-refundable deposit for half the amount of your total intensive cost is due within 1 week. This amount will be charged to your credit card number, submitted via the online client portal.
The remaining half of your intensive cost will be charged on the date of the first session.
-
Some insurance plans will reimburse a portion of the cost of an Intensive. Please note that the insurance company requires a diagnosis code as a reason for treatment.
I recommend calling your insurance company to learn details about your specific plan. Ask what benefits are available regarding out-of-network providers, and if your insurance will reimburse several hours of therapy in one day or one week.
I am happy to provide more information to help with this process.

Intensives allow for accelerated progress and deeper healing. This may save time and money on continuous treatment across time. Ultimately, Intensives are an investment in your health and wellbeing.

EMDR is a brain-body therapy that allows each member of a couple to process distressing memories, such as:
traumas that they experienced together (such as a car accident, miscarriage, medical crisis, grief & loss, near-death encounter, natural disaster, and more)
traumas that they experienced individually, but which continue to impact their relationship today (childhood & family of origin experiences)
Depending on the type of experience that the couple is processing, and the level of support that each person needs, EMDR may occur in one of two formats:
concurrent model (both partners doing EMDR at the same time, focusing on a shared traumatic experience)
witnessing model (one partner doing EMDR on an individual trauma, while the other partner witnesses & holds space, with the therapist’s guidance)
-
IFS (Internal Family Systems) is a brain-body therapy that allows each member of a couple to notice reactivity (“it’s all your fault,” “you always do this to me”), track the circular nature of their conflicts, and “unblend” from reactive parts so they can increase choice and try something new.
IFS Therapy teaches couples how to:
speak & listen with genuine curiosity — without attacking, blaming, or shutting down
get to the root of their triggers, understanding why they react in certain ways and how to find different & better options
communicate courageously & compassionately, making it possible to explore repair, forgiveness, and the future
connect deeply with themselves, and therefore be available for more connection & intimacy with their partners
IFS therapy for couples is also known as “Intimacy From the Inside Out” (IFIO).
