Brainspotting Therapy online in Colorado

Deep brain-body healing.

Helping you resolve the root issues & feel whole again (or for the first time).

Is talk therapy not getting you the results you need?

  • You feel like you’re talking in circles around the same issues, but not making any real progress.

  • You know you need to address past (and ongoing) traumas, but a part of you is scared about what that might open up, and talking about it is too overwhelming.

  • You keep having the same negative thought loops & problems in your relationships, and are frustrated with yourself for not breaking out of the cycle already.

  • Though you’ve read all the self-help books (The Body Keeps the Score, anyone?), it seems like the information just sits in your head and your life doesn’t actually change.

You’re ready to truly, deeply heal — not just the symptoms, but the root causes of what’s been holding you back.

That’s where Brainspotting comes in.

How does Brainspotting work?

The basic idea behind Brainspotting — an evidence-based, brain-body therapy — is that where you look affects how you feel.

Remember a time when you felt a strong emotion, like anger or grief. Can you picture where your eyes naturally drifted to? That spot, or “Brainspot,” holds the key to unlocking and processing that experience.

During a Brainspotting session, we’ll collaborate to find a brain spot: an area in your field of vision that’s connected to the issue you want to process.

I'll guide you to focus on that spot and notice what comes up: thoughts, feelings, sensations, images, and memories.

Then, we’ll let your brain do what it does best: process and organize information, release stuck emotions, rewire and file away painful memories, and ultimately heal itself.

Brainspotting leverages the natural healing powers of the brain and body — leading to profound, long-lasting relief.

There’s nothing you need to “make” happen. Your job is to mindfully observe your experience. I’ll be with you through every step of the process.

Across multiple sessions or even just one session, you’ll notice that feelings of stress, pain, and tension fade away, replaced by a sense of calmness and clarity.

  • PTSD

  • Complex Trauma

  • Grief

  • Phobias

  • Psychedelic Integration

How is Brainspotting quicker & more effective than talk therapy?

TALK THERAPY

Talk therapy works on the surface level, addressing what you’re consciously aware of. In talk therapy, you’re processing from the talking & thinking parts of the brain (pre-frontal cortex).

That’s why you might understand where your trauma comes from, without feeling any different about it.

BRAINSPOTTING THERAPY

Brainspotting is a shortcut to your subconscious mind. You go deeper, accessing the parts of the brain where unprocessed trauma is stored (subcortical brain).

By focusing on a specific spot in your field of vision, you can work through deeply rooted memories, emotions, and self-limiting beliefs— without having to talk the whole time.

What can take years to achieve in talk therapy, you might experience in months, weeks, or hours with Brainspotting.

How will we work together?

There is flexibility in the way we do Brainspotting — because therapy doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. We’ll tailor the approach to fit your needs and processing style.

  • Weekly Brainspotting therapy provides a steady & consistent approach to healing. We’ll meet for 50-minute sessions every week, for 3+ months.

Weekly therapy is a great option if you enjoy ongoing support and consistent check-ins. This approach leads to transformative healing and a deeper understanding of yourself over time.

  • Intensive Brainspotting therapy is an accelerated approach to healing, condensing the work into a shorter timeframe. We’ll meet for 3-hour sessions on an infrequent basis (one-time only, once a month, once a quarter, etc).

Due to the focused & extended time for processing, 1 intensive session is equivalent to multiple weekly sessions.

This approach is beneficial if you’re seeking faster relief from stress, trauma, anxiety, and burnout.

FAQs

  • Brainspotting therapy can address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex trauma, and phobias. It uses the mind-body connection to facilitate deep healing and relief.

Additionally, Brainspotting offers an open-ended space to process grief, intergenerational trauma, and psychedelic experiences.

  • The beauty of Brainspotting is its flexibility. There's no strict format. Each session is unique and attuned to your needs.

We might start by discussing what you'd like to work on, whether it's a specific memory, a recurring emotion, or a physical symptom. As we talk, I'll be observing your eye movements. If I notice your eyes naturally drifting to a particular point, it may indicate a significant Brainspot. We can then focus on that spot, allowing your brain to process and release any underlying tension or trauma associated with it.

Sometimes, we'll work together to find the right Brainspot. I'll use a pointer to help you identify a spot that evokes a strong emotional or physical response. This could be a spot that triggers anxiety or a spot that brings a sense of peace and calm.

We'll end each session with a debrief, grounding practice, and/or closing reflections.

  • Our brains store emotional and physical experiences in specific neural networks. When we experience trauma or significant stress, these experiences can become "stuck" in these networks, leading to ongoing emotional and physical symptoms.

By focusing on specific points in our visual field, Brainspotting activates these neural networks, allowing us to access and process these stored experiences. This focused attention can trigger a physiological response, leading to the release of tension and the integration of these past experiences.

In a nutshell: Brainspotting harnesses the brain's natural healing abilities.

  • In talk therapy, you access the talking & thinking parts of the brain (pre-frontal cortex).

In Brainspotting, you access the deeper parts of the brain, where unprocessed trauma is stored (subcortical brain). By focusing on a specific spot in your field of vision, you can work through deeply rooted memories, emotions, and self-limiting beliefs — without having to talk the whole time.

What might take years to achieve in talk therapy can often be accomplished in months, weeks, or hours with Brainspotting.

  • While both EMDR and Brainspotting are effective trauma therapies, they differ in their approach. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, alternating sounds, or self-tapping) to process distressing memories, while Brainspotting uses fixed eye positions for processing.

Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on individual preferences and processing styles. Individuals who have tried EMDR and found it ineffective may benefit from Brainspotting's gentler and more focused approach.

  • Our sessions take place online, through a secure video-conferencing platform.

This allows you to experience Brainspotting therapy from the comfort and privacy of your home, decreasing commute times, overwhelming transitions, and scheduling conflicts.

  • The number of Brainspotting sessions you’ll need is unique to your situation. Some people find relief from specific concerns within 12-16 weekly sessions. Others stay on longer, using therapy as a consistent space for healing and introspection.

If a faster pace aligns with your preferences, we can explore intensive therapy options, where we condense the work into a shorter timeframe. Click HERE to learn more about intensives.

It’s important to find a pace that feels comfortable and allows you to fully integrate the positive changes from Brainspotting therapy. To get a more specific idea of your potential timeframe, I encourage you to schedule a free consultation, where we can discuss your needs and goals.

  • Deciding between weekly and intensive therapy depends on your needs and preferences. Here’s an overview of each approach.

    Weekly therapy:

    • gradual & consistent work

    • steady progress across multiple weeks/months

    • ideal for: those who seek ongoing support, thrive on routine, or enjoy a gradual pace

    Intensive therapy:

    • accelerated & focused work

    • significant progress in a short time period (multiple hours across 1-2 days)

    • quicker results & concentrated healing

    • ideal for: those with busy schedules who cannot commit to weekly therapy, but want to feel better soon; or those seeking to jumpstart their healing process

During your free consultation, we’ll discuss what format of Brainspotting is the best fit for you.

We can also explore a hybrid option, combining weekly sessions with occasional intensive sessions.

  • The first step is to schedule a free 15-min consult. We’ll get to know each other and confirm if we’re a great fit to work together.
